This weekend saw the return of the EuroBOSS Formula 1 cars to Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium for the official test session prior to the 2005 season. The glorious weather and dry conditions was perfect for 16 of the world’s most exciting racing cars and it was not surprising that the fast and exciting action that has become a hallmark of EuroBOSS was clear for all to see.
Dutchman Klaas Zwart, driving an Ascari Benetton Judd V10 4.0 proved to be the pick of the drivers with the fastest lap at the end of the day's session. Zwart's time was quicker than close rival Patrick D’Aubreby in the Team Griffiths Benetton Ford HB 3.5 V8. Local hero Eric Glorieux also impressed in the heavier TSA Aubertin IRL Dallara Infiniti 3.5 V8 and was quicker than Englishman Paul Smith in the Dupaul Engineering Simtek Ford HB 3.5 V8.
Unfortunately it was a weekend to forget for EuroBOSS regular, Belgian Kamiel de Brue, who heavily crashed his recently acquired Formula Nippon G-Force Mugen. “The car felt good,” commented de Brue, “and I felt that I could have put in a better time but our aim now is to be ready for the first race in a few weeks time"
The 2005 EuroBOSS Series includes six double-header races throughout mainland Europe where at least 18 cars are expected to line up for another stunning spectacle of fast and exciting racing.
