Klass Zwart drove from the back of the grid to the race win in the second race of the EuroBOSS Super Prix at Zandvoort. The Dutchman fought his way through the pack and was dicing with fellow countryman and Ascari teammate Tom Coronel in the Ferrari V12 before taking the lead. Johnny Laursen, starting second on the grid drove a solid race at the front before technical problems put his Ascari Benetton Judd out of contention. Patrick D'Aubreby took the final podium position in his Benetton Ford HB V8.
Race one got underway with Klass Zwart causing the safety car to be deployed after getting a disasterous start which saw the V10 powered Ascari retire with electrical problems. Johnny Laursen and Tom Coronel provided some entertainment as the pair battled for the win with dramatic lunges from both drivers. Further down the field the fight was hotting up between Fritz van Eerd and Henk Thuiis with wheel to wheel action for most of the race with Thuiis taking final honours. Meanwhile D'Aubreby lost control of his Benetton Ford, spinning and getting stranded in a dangerous position. The Red Flag was thrown with a minute and a half remaining, ending the race with Dutchman Tom Coronel the big winner taking top spot with Laursen in a solid second place. Thuis was later disqualified having started the race from the wrong grid position promoting Patrick D'Aubreby to third spot.
Race two saw Coronel in the Ferrari V12 starting from pole position with teammate Johnny Laursen in second. Frenchman Patrick D'Aubreby in the Benetton Ford HB V8 filled the third spot following the disqualification of Thuiis. Henk de Boar and Klass Zwart both lined up on the final two places at the back of grid following technical problems.
As the lights turned green, Ascari team boss Klass Zwart got stuck in from the back of the grid. After three laps Zwart had manged to overtake ten of his fellow drivers and was in a comfortable third place and pushing hard to catch Coronel in the Ferrari. Johhny Laursen looked strong, leading by eight seconds by lap four before an engine failure put an end to the Dane's maiden win. As the race stabilised, the gap between Coronel and Zwart was closing with the Ascari Benetton much faster and able to overtake the Ferrari for the lead.
Down the field EuroBOSS Masters champion Roger Kilty was hunting down the Coloni Cosworth of Henk de Boar while Karl Heinz Becker, Carlos Tavares and Terry Sayles provided entertaining racing for the crowds. The battle of the weekend however was the exciting racing of Henk Thuis and Frits van Eerd. Both drivers pushed hard throughout the race and continued to match each other in a game of brinksmanship which would last until one of the dramatic manouvers caused van Eerd to lose control of his Tyrrell, ending up on the grass. Two laps later the stewards red flagged the race deaming the car to be in a dangerous position.
