In Saturday's sprint race, EuroBOSS regular Klaas Zwart became the fastest racer ever to lap the Snetterton circuit, driving his Ascari Benetton Judd V10 majestically around the twists and turns of the East Anglian circuit to secure the lap record by almost 2.5 seconds. Fellow EuroBOSS racer Nigel Greensall set the previous record ten years ago in his Tyrrell Judd V10.
Spurred on by a enthusiastic crowd, the impressive Zwart had clearly set his sights on this achievement and put in a blistering performance in the early qualifying session averaging 128.49 miles per hour and setting the benchmark at 54.687 seconds. With the knowledge that he had the pace and the machinery to take the record, his sights were firmly on the start of the race.
"The team has worked extremely hard all weekend to make this a possibility." commented Klaas Zwart, "We knew that the weather and the car were right for a record attempt and that we should go for it whilst the tyres were at their best. It is a fantastic achievement to break the lap record by 2.5 seconds and I would like to thank the team for making this possible."
