On Sundays race Gerstl shot off in the lead from pole. All eyes were on Frits van Eerd who was up to 7th on lap two. By lap 8 the Tyrrell had cought the leader and seemed to settle down the leader until the race end. However a late spin by Gerstls team mate Jens Renstrup finished any chance for van Eerd to overtake him. A good third position for Ryschka in the IRL car who passed his bitter rival Karl-Heinz Becker in the Dallara-Nissan two laps before the end of the race.
